In the summer of 2000, professional women's full contact football was introduced to Austin, Texas. The announcement of professional NFL style tryouts drew hundreds of local female athletes who braved 110-degree heat to see if they had the right stuff. 2001 laid the foundation for Austin Outlaws. The young and hungry team played six games in venues all across the nation and won all but one, losing by only one touchdown in overtime. The Outlaws had made their mark!

In 2002, the Austin Outlaws came out of the gates running! With spirit and determination, they steamrolled through the 2002 season winning every home game. The Outlaws earned the 2002 Western Conference Title in the infamous 7-6 win over the Oklahoma City Lightning that came in the last 12 seconds of the game. Ranked 10th nationally, the Austin Outlaws traveled to Corvallis, Oregon for the 2002 semifinals and proved their talents on a national level. The distinguished Austin Outlaws dominated an aggressive, well-fought battle with the Corvallis Pride, soaring away with a 42-14 victory! This win gave the Austin Outlaws the chance to play for the 2002 Championship ring. Though experiencing a disappointing loss to the New York Sharks in the IWFL Championship Game, the Austin Outlaws turned heads all across the country.

After much deliberation, the Outlaws decided to join the NWFA for the 2003 season because it was an opportunity to take their talents to a higher level. Restructured to fit NWFA regulations, the Austin Outlaws became a contending powerhouse in largest women's professional football league in the nation. The team played nine exhibition games as an expansion team for the NWFA and won seven of the nine.

For the 2004 season, the Outlaws were blessed with the addition of some incredibly talented and experienced football players and went on to play their first regular NWFA season. The team experienced some growing pains and lost the first two games of 2004, but came back to win four in a row by putting over 100 collective points on the board and allowing fewer than 20. The Outlaws finished the season 5-3 only a few points shy of a wildcard playoff berth.

Though the 2004 season was sucessful, the 2005 season looks even better. The solid core of experienced players mixed with the bright-eyed enthusiasm of some outstanding rookie talent will give the Outlaws a prime opportunity to lead the Southwest Division into championship contention.
